Ombre Hair

Lately I've been seeing this "Ombre" trend EVERYWHERE, and since I'm quite the curious gal ( and a big dork) I researched the term.

There are two schools of thought on where the term originated:

1. It's a mutilated version of the Spanish word "hombre" meaning man.

2. It's a French term meaning "shaded".

I think I'm going to go with #2, just for kicks and giggles.
Ombre hair is the practice of dying the hair in varying tones of color, preferably in the same color family, all while leaving the roots the darkest shade

It's very natural looking, and what a great way to save money on highlights! Just tell people you're supposed to have roots! However, there are quite a few out there trying for Ombre hair and it really just looks like you dunked your head in a bottle of paint.

Ew. This is more like upside down Ombre hair, but either way its ugly.

I really think I like this trend. And like every other trend, it's slowly seeping into all other areas of life: Ombre cake! Kind of fun right?

So I might be trying this trend out myself. But It'll have to be after my sister's wedding, or I just might get shot.

LOVE,

  2. This is cute, Ka! I've never heard of ombre hair but I sure have seen it around. Here I thought it was just someone too lazy to go get their color fixed! Lol!
