I don't really know what to call this updo, so Braided Curly Side Guy is what it shall be called. Unless you come up with a name. I'm open to "awesomeness".
1. Start by curling the top layer of hair. The rest doesn't really matter since it's gonna be up anways. I use a combination of my straightner and a 1" curling iron. I also tease the crown a bit.
O hello duck face. That's cute...not.
2. Starting at the opposite side of your part (mine would be my left, right in the duck picture above), french braid your hair around to the other side. I start about ear level and then switch my hands to the other side when I get down past my ear. Did that make any sense at all? I don't know, you tell me.
Mine is usually pretty messy so if yours looks like you've been sleeping on it, no worries it's cool like that. Make sure and leave the front section, about ear and forward, out of the braid.
3. Once you have you have braided all the way to your ends, bunch up that guy and make yourself a little messy bun. I don't put a rubber band on the end becuase really whats the point?
Now you get to play around a bit. I usually re-curl this section with the 1" iron to get some nice curls goin on. Just mess with your side bit and see how much hair you want to keep out. If your hairs longer you can try pinning it about halfway, ear rangeish, but leave the ends free so it looks shorter. If you have too much out just wrap it around your bun guy and pin it in place. The beauty of this look is that it's MESSY but it looks really nice and polished when finished.
After you've got your side guy worked out, grab some hairspray and spray to bits! I love this look dressed up, with an LBD and some heels, or dressed down with a nice flowy top and some skinnies. If you have any questions you can e-mail me at pish_posh_couture@yahoo.com!
