Wavy Hair Tutorial

So I got quite a few comments ( in the most random of places, here yes, but my facebook, twitter, e-mails, texts! I loved it! Thanks guys!) about my wavy beach hair, and since you all seemed to like it so much I thought I'd share my secret weapon!

Kaleigh's Secret Beach Hair Concoction
You will need:
A spray bottle
Gel ( I use Garnier Scrunch gel)
Salt
Water
Leave in conditioner or just regular conditioner
( I use Matrix biolage leave in conditioner)

that's it!

Pour two tablespoons of salt, a tablespoon of gel, and a squirt or two of conditioner into the spray bottle. Fill with HOT water, and shakety shake shake until it's all mixed together.

This is an art more than a science; I just played around until I came up with a mix that worked for my hair. If things aren't going the way you wanted, try adding in more salt or gel. But do NOT forgo the conditioner! Salt water will dry your hair out; that's why your hair gets so much texture at the beach. But try using salt on your hair everyday, and your hair will become dry and brittle. The conditioner adds in the necessary balance to keep your hair from becoming damaged.

To start, I do this at night after I've gotten out of the shower and towel dried my hair a bit. I spray A TON of this all over my head, scrunch scrunch scrunchity scrunch, and then go to sleep! Occasionally I'll add some mousse in after the texture spray just for kicks and giggles.

When I wake up in the morning it's a bit crazy, so I'll spray some more texture spray on and blow dry. My top layer loves to rebel against my wishes but I refuse to take that kind of crap. I use a 1 inch Hot Tools curling iron and wrap my  hair around the iron till I have about an inch of hair left. Hold for a few seconds and finger comb through.

Add in some hairspray (Big Sexy is my fave) and voila! You're done!
