Letters to Mr. Darcy

Dear Mr. Darcy,

You are away. Not gone, not left, just away. Away to the other side of the pond. A ginourmos, 6 hour time difference pond. Where people drink tea and say, "cheers" and actually have a city bus transportation system. But you'll be back, and it will go by fast and and that, my dear one, is why I haven't ate an entire bucket of cookie dough. (Just a few spoonfuls)

Christmas is one of my favorite times. I love the busy, frantic sense of anticipation people get the closer it gets to C-Day. I love the lights and the singing and the parties and the whirl wind of the whole season. But I also love the slowing of time, when people look and see family and loved ones gathered together and they are overwhelmed with love. When, after all the buying and cooking and wrapping is done, we sit down and just BE. Together. loved. Happy.

I think that's the hardest part about dating an alien (sorry, had to go there. Foreigner.) I get so wrapped up in the warm fuzzies of Christmas and I just want to hug everyone and love on everyone, and then I remember..you're not here. My best friend, my English muffin (o yes.), the one that will brush my hair when I'm being a baby and won't do it, who laughs at my stupid jokes and lets me talk about Pinterest like it's the sequel to the Bible, you're at home with your own family. And while I'm so happy for you, that you get to go home and see your family and I know you're having a blast.....I still miss you.

So enjoy your time. Drink lots of tea. Kiss Nana,squeeze those precious little nephews extra long, and squeal about wedding plans with your sisters for me (ha. ya right). But come home soon. Cause I kind of like havin you around.

and I swear to Kris friggin Kringle, the inventor of Skype is the most fantastic person ever.
