I've always liked the look of a braided crown, but I hated the part in the back from pigtails. This tutorial eliminates the weird pigtail dilemma! YAY!
Step1: Create a deep side part. Tease the crown area with a comb.

2. Begin a underhanded french braid close to your part, about 2 inches wide. Click here to see my video tutorial on an underhanded french braid!

3.Continue to braid down your head, curving behind your ear.

4. (This is the hardest part, promise) Keep braiding your hair back, curving to the other side of your head. You'll have to switch your hands on this point. hint: be very conscious of what piece you just braided, so that when you switch your hands, you'll know what to do next. Just be patient, it takes time.

5. Continue to braid across, slightly curving the braid up. You should run out of hair at your ear. Finish the remaining hair off with a regular braid.

6. Braid your hair down to the very teeny ends, and pin into place behind your beginning braid with bobby pins. Add extra pins in any place you feel necessary around your head.

Finish with some hair spray and you're done! Voila!
If you try out this braid, please let me know! I'd love to see! If you have any questions I'll be more than willing to help answer them! Email me at

You are adorable! I love the hair, cannot wait till my hair is long enough to try it! And those puppies! SO dang cute!!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks gorgeous! I don't think I have the french braid skills to actually do it though.
ReplyDeleteSo. I can't braid my own hair, seriously cannot do it. So basically you're rubbing it in. LIKE BAD. gees. :)
ReplyDeletewow! that looks amazing. try as I might, my hands always fall asleep, and I give up halfway when braiding my own hair. I might just have to suck it up and give it my all for this one - it is TOO cute!

Love this!
ReplyDeleteOkay, at first... I thought you chopped you hair off SUPER short... As in like above your ears. HAHA and I have to admit, I thought it was pretty dang cute but then had a minor freak out for your wedding that you wouldn't have much to do with your hair! Nonetheless, LOVE the tutorial and am the same way about the middle part.. I'll be giving this a try, although I have tons of layers that usually make for great spikes coming out of my head in all directions. Wish me luck! Love keeping up with your blog!
