DIY Notebook

I'm the type of person that wants to remember everything. I love details, I love stories, I love remembering. I'm also the most forgetful person on the planet. Seriously. So when everyone started telling me that I would forget everything that happened during our engagement, and if I remembered anything it would probably just be how stressed I was, I immediately decided I had to make a notebook.

I wanted something that was cute and fun but would also be a place for me to be organized and methodical. Something that would help me plan, but would also be a neat momento from our engagement, maybe something I could pass down to our kids. I know, I'm cheesy.

So I went out and bought myself a notebook! I decorated the front with vintage lace, pretty ribbons, buttons and some shots from when Mr. Darcy proposed.

I seperated the pages into different categories; a journal area to write down my thoughts through this whole process, an area to make to do lists, an area to hold inspiring images or ideas, and a "random" section to jot down quick notes, websites to remember, or ideas to look into.

Each category has it's own tab made from vintage ribbons, lace, a few buttons and some sparkly string.

On the back cover I made a pocket to hold memorabilia: cards, notes, or anything else I want to make sure I hold onto.

Ribbon: local shop. Lace: vintage. Sparkly String: Michael's. Washi Tape: Target. Buttons: Vintage. Sparkly Letters: Michael's. Picture strip: Made with Word '07. Rose Ribbon: Hobby Lobby (tea-stained to look old). Sparkly Clothespin: DIY.

There are so many different occasions that you could make a notebook like this for. A new baby, a new house, a diet plan, a birthday party or other event. Seriously, the list could go on and on.

  2. Ka, this is a great idea and so, so cute! Libby will have to do something like this when she gets engaged. :)

BTW, "everyone" is right...you don't remember all these wonderful memories unless you write them down. I know the month and year I got engaged, but not the date or how it happened.

  9. Okay, this is just downright adorable! I wish I would have thought of this when I got engaged. Glad to see someone else wants to remember everything! I literally have every card I've ever received from anyone close to me... All the flowers my husband has given me from our very first Valentine's day are dried and saved. I think it's a girl thing :) You will be SO glad you did that and enjoy every minute of wedding planning! It will be gone before you know it! :)

    Keep in touch!
