Hold the phone guys, I'm talking about the Thunder.

bahaha Joey loves his modeling career.

All pieces in this post from England. What can I say, I buy clothes instead of souvenirs.

So unless you live under a rock, you're probably aware that the OKC Thunder have made it to the NBA Finals. And yes, I'm from Oklahoma. And yes, I like the Thunder.

bahaha

But I've never really been into sports. I played basketball for 2 seasons when I was 7 or something. I jammed a finger and called it quits. I'm just not the athletic sort.

And I've never really been one to watch sports. I have watched a few Thunder games, and Mr. Darcy has kind of gotten me interested in Manchester City Football (mainly because the keeper (and Joey's namesake) is a hottie mchotter), and I was born (no choice) an OU football fan.

But to call myself a die hard fan of any sports related activity would be coming on a bit too strong.

Yes, I'm proud of the Thunder. and YES, I think it's really cool how the state has come together and supported them so well, and we kind of started a trend with this whole t-shirt on the chair thing. I don't mind talking about the Thunder, and I'll even contribute to the conversation, if I've heard anything lately that I understand and can repeat with out sounding stupid.

But confession time my friends.

Despite everything the Thunder has done, what I'm really most excited about?

For the first time in way too long, Oklahoma is finally getting some good publicity. And it has nothing to do with:

1. Being the state that all the Indians live in. "So do you still ride horses to school and carry bows and arrows? Do you live in a teepee?" Real questions guys. For reals.
2. Being the state that had the 1995 Bombing. No city wants to be remembered only for it's tragedy.
3. That state that has all the podunk, toothless, illiterate, inbred country folk. Yes we're country. Yes we're in the Bible Belt. Yes there are people who shove their hands into mud holes and pull up catfish (noodling). But it is NOT the majority. Most of us are quite normal and up to date on social issues. A lot of us even finished high school!

So I can say, with all sincerity, Go Thunder. Keep it up. And for the love of all that is holy, PLEASE choose normal people to interview! Not the lady that thought the earthquake was her neighbor's donkey knocking on her house.

  5. Too funny! I had to read the last part of the post out loud to the family. :) If it's any consolation, when NC is in the national news, the media usually makes us look like a bunch of idiots, as well.
