"To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with an open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, speak gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, let the spiritual unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the uncommon- this is my symphony." - William Henry Channing
I LOVE this quote. I stumbled across it the other day, I think it's such a sweet way to say, "I just want to be happy in my life". I so wish I had the gift of words like this! I quite adore quotes, mainly because I always think a quote sounds better than when I try to say it. Like, "O man I really like you!" is so lame compared to,
"..And when I say at need I love thee....mark!...I love thee-in thy sight I stand transfigured, glorified aright, with conscious the new rays that proceed out of my face towards thine"(Elizabeth Barrett Browning).
See what I mean?
I've always liked the idea of writing down my goals; of having a set idea of what I want my life to be like. Some call that a mission statement, but I kind of like using this Channing quote is mine. So this is my symphony :)
LOVE, Kaleigh
