Mr. Darcy's Style

I have frequently been asked about Mr. Darcy's style, and how involved I am in said style. I've been asked whether I choose his clothing for him, and have even been complimented on how cute Mr. Darcy's dresses.

While I'm flattered that anyone would think that I could dress someone other than myself, I have to tell the truth.

I have never, not even once, had any control over Mr. Darcy's clothing. I've never picked out his clothes before, I've never bought him an entire outfit and told him to wear it, and I've never (though I may try) succeeded in making him wear something he thought was stupid but turned out to be cute.

He has his own unique style that he has developed all by himself (hims is such a big boy). He might occasionally send me a picture of something he's considering buying and ask my opinion, but he is fully capable of coming up with a great outfit on his own. In fact, I'd say his style has influenced me way more than I have influenced him.

I think people have made this mistake because they forget who Mr. Darcy is on a daily basis, and that is an athlete.

He plays football (soccer for us American folk), he just finished two-a-days, and they kicked off the fall season last week. All this to say that when he's on campus or out and about during the week, he's most likely coming from practice, going to practice, going for a quick run, or about to leave for a game. If the boy wears anything other than work out clothes from August to December, it's a dang special occasion. Like a date with me. Or he hasn't done his laundry yet and he ran out of soccer shorts.

I asked Mr. Darcy his opinion the other day, just to see what he thought. He said that while I have given him more confidence to try different things with his style (awww!), he feels like it is still his ideas and his personality. And I agree.

So if you ever see my Mr. Darcy runnin' around looking real cute, go ahead and give HIM the compliments, not me.
Because my Mr. Darcy sure can dress, and it's dang sexy my friends.

  1. I never dated anyone who could actually LOOK good every day until Jake. It's so refreshing!

  2. Those dang Brits sure know how to dress! I remember Greg getting so upset to see girls in America wear tennis shoes to class :)
